Cell-surface glycoprotein beta-chains that are non-covalently linked to specific alpha-chains of the CD11 family of leukocyte-adhesion molecules (receptors, leukocyte-adhesion). A defect in the gene encoding CD18 causes leukocyte-adhesion deficiency syndrome.
