Liquid nitrogen is a non-toxic, colorless, tasteless, odorless fluid with a boiling point of -196° C. On exposure to the air, it evaporates into the atmosphere quite rapidly. It is used mainly as a cryogen (refrigerant). It can cause severe burns on touch and must be handled safely.
