Definition
-
A treatment technology that contacts soil with a wash solution, which then is vigorously agitated to transfer contaminants by dissolving or suspending them into the wash solution. Soil washing separates soil into particle size fractions, whereby the contaminants typically adhere to the finer soil particles to reduce the amount of solids requiring treatment. The cleaned coarser fractions can be returned to the site.
