Also known as golden-headed lion tamarins this is one of four species of lion tamarins in the Genus Leontopithecus that have similar body shapes and share several common features including a lionlike mane of hair surrounding their dark brown, or black, hairless faces. They inhabit the Brazilian coastal states of Bahia and Minas Gerais.(en)
